I’m new to this sport, and friends and I play with a blue ball. I’m thinking about entering into a racquetball tournament, and they use a black ball. How will that affect play?
I have never played with the black ball but according to racquetball warehouse
“Introducing the Ektelon Classic (black) – a rally ball approved by USA Racquetball that features enhanced visibility and lighter feel for premium performance.”
The red ball is made for indoor and outdoor use. The World Outdoor Racquectball Tour uses the red ball.
I mainly have played with blue and green balls and I can’t tell the difference between the two.
Unless you are an “A” player I don’t think you will notice much or any difference
Good Luck on your touney!!!

black balls are the slowest. it is made of softer material and will bounce less. this will yield a game with emphasis on a high amount of control and strategic hits, rather than brute force.
blue is in the middle, and is the standard for most recreational play
red balls are often called “fireballs.” as you might guess, they are made with the most elastic material and are the fastest balls you can get. i wouldn’t recommend them unless you are just looking to mess around with some friends.
blue are the highest selling and most frequently used ball.
